The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Seven, was conducting an ACE study to evaluate alternatives for realignment of the US 301/US 98/Clinton Avenue intersection in Pasco County and Dade City.
Phases of the Study
The study occured in three phases, and each had its own technical and public involvement focus:
PHASE 1 – Define Project Goals
In this phase, the study team seeks input from the community on the purpose and need for the project via the project website, an online commenting tool, and a kick-off meeting for elected officials and other stakeholders. Community input helps shape the goals and objectives for the project. Concurrent with the public outreach efforts, the project team gathers technical data on how the existing corridor is used, which, along with community input, informs the development of the project’s Methodology Memorandum.
PHASE 2 – Data Collection and Alternatives Development (In Progress)
During this phase, the project team collects data, develops a variety of alternatives that address the purpose and need within the project corridor, and engages the community in refining design options. The Project Documents tab will be updated throughout the project to contain the most up to date information on the solutions under development.
PHASE 3 – Evaluate and Recommend Alternatives
An Alternative Corridors Evaluation Report (ACER) is developed at the conclusion of the study. The ACER outlines a series of guiding goals and objectives, and identify a range of solutions to address the purpose and need. The ACER identifies the alternatives that will proceed to the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) phase.
